Test Day

Yesterday was the big test day. I know a placement test might seem like a funny thing to get nervous about but for this girl it was a big deal. I had a migraine all day and felt sick to my stomach. It had been years since I had taken a test. It had been years since I had sat at a desk.
I arrived on time, pencil's in hand.
I'm waiting outside the testing room and I see kids, young kids! I think to myself  "You were that age once." "Did I look that young at 18?" "Was it really 11 years ago?"  I remembered going to the same school....being much younger and thinner. I was newly engaged and living at home with my dad. Life was so simple back then.
I entered the testing room and tried to get comfortable. I knew 3 hrs in those little chairs was going to kill my "I just carried a 23lb. toddler all day" back! The test was long, timed and not as bad as I thought. I found myself looking up at the clock and thinking about Isla. It's so hard to turn the mom brain off even for a few hours. I finished the test just in time to rush home to Isla. We have our bedtime rutine and I couldn't and wouldn't miss it for the world.
I got my results today and they were what I expected. I suck at math, like really suck. It's okay. I'll get through it, hopefully. I have a great tutor who happens to live in the same house. I'm actually excited to take my english course so I think I'm going to sign up for that first. I apply on Friday and sign up for classes in May. I still can't believe I'm doing this......This will be another chapter to add to my life. I'm so lucky to have support from Alex, Isla and friends.
