Weigh-in Wednesday

I'm linking up with my dear friend for the first installment of weigh-in Wednesday.

(Blogger will NOT let me link up!) So here is the link to her page just in case the link doesn't work!  http://prettylittlebuzz.blogspot.com/

Some have asked me how I've lost 16lbs since June 1st and I'm not going to lie the first few weeks were hell. I was cranky, tired and I missed my carbs! I have pcos and it makes losing weight very difficult. A woman with pcos holds onto carbs differently then a "normal" person. A woman with pcos has hormone problems that can make everyday life a little annoying. I take a pill called Metformine to help my body function some what normally and it helps me lose weight.

I followed the GI diet. It's very low carb and it's a great diet for anyone with pcos to try. The first 2 weeks I cut out ALL carbs for 2 weeks. This is when I became cranky, crank, cranky! A sample menu looked like this:
Breakfast: Eggs, chicken sausage
Lunch: Tomato salad with cheese
Snack: Handful of nuts
Dinner: Chicken and grilled veggies
Dessert: Fruit

Did I mention I was starving! My body was trying to adjust and it was pissed!
During this time I was running 3-4 times a week at night when Isla slept.

As the weeks went on I started introducing whole wheat breads and grains. I even had our famous Friday night pizza again with a glass of red wine. The difference was Alex made me a whole wheat pizza and I only ate half of what I normally ate.

I allow myself one cheat day, Saturday. I have to have this cheat day or I go crazy.

This week I'm still only down 16lbs and partly it's due to some major hormone problems and the fact that I'm eating 1/4 of Isla's bagel for breakfast lately. My Metformine has been making me feel so sick in the mornings and eating is hard. I see a doctor soon about this.
I'm running 3 days a week these day's. It's been so hot here at night and finding motivation is tough. Once I get the clothes and shoes on I figure I might as well run. I started running up hills last week and I enjoy it actually. I can feel the burn and I can feel it working my abs....that's a great feeling.

Here's a couple before and after pictures. The first picture is beyond embarrassing but it feel good to see how far I've come. It was actually after I saw that first picture on the way home from the aquarium that I decided I'd had enough. I cried on the couch that day and Alex vowed to help me get back on track.

Next week for weigh-in Wednesday I can share another more flexible daily menu.

See you all next week and go link up with Amanda!!

And I like how you're fitting it into "real life".....what would life be without pizza?! I'm glad you've found a way to become healthier while sitll enjoying things. I really need to get to working out....I wish I was a runner like you!
